SURFcert Security Award 2011 for Team Cymru

The SURFcert Security Award was today awarded to Team Cymru. On the first day of the two-day SURFcert security conference, keynote speaker Ot van Daalen (Bits of Freedom and winner of the SURFcert Security Award 2010) presented the award to Ian Cook, representing Team Cymru.

For more than a decade now, Team Cymru has done sterling work to improve the overall level of Internet security. Team Cymru’s non-profit status and the concrete way in which if provides operational support for CERTs all over the world has made it an important partner for non-commercial organisations such as SURFcert and its constituency.

The SURFcert Security Award is intended for a person, initiative, organisation, solution, or implementation that makes a substantial contribution to the overall level of security for SURFnet users. The jury chose Team Cymru to receive the 3000 euro award from among six serious nominees.

More information about the conference will follow.
